The Kenton High School Class of 1963 gathered to celebrate their 55th Year Graduation Reunion on July 28th, 2018. The 1963 classmates gathered at the Elk's Club in Kenton for dinner and for renewing friendships. The ceremonies began when Co-Master of Ceremonies Jerry Stout welcomed those in attendance, recognizing those who traveled from out of state and expressing the reunion committee's gratitude for the efforts made by everyone to attend. He then shared a number of communications from classmates who expressed regrets for their absence.
Co-Master of Ceremonies David Schwemer recognized the 55th Year Reunion committee, expressing his gratitude for their every effort to insure another successful reunion gathering. Committee members are Martha Dick Hottman, John Dulin, Lois Reynolds Lautenschlager, Gary Oates, David Schwemer, and Jerry Stout. David recognized John and Gayle Dulin and Gary Oates for planning, organizing, and hosting an informal gathering of classmates on Friday evening at the Dulin Residence - very nicely done and much appreciated by all. David then recognized the decorating efforts of Lois Reynolds Lautenschlager and the decorating committee for the beautiful atmosphere of the dining room to honor our graduating class. The classmates then moved to the front steps of the Elks for taking the traditional Class of '63 group photograph.
Upon returning from the Class of '63 group photograph, Jerry read a list of classmates' names who need remembered in our continued thoughts, concerns, and prayers. These classmates are listed on the Thoughts and Prayers tab of this website. Ellen Kaylor Toronto was introduced to present a memorial service for departed classmates. Ellen presented an inspiring memorial, remembering each departed classmate by name. Dave and Connie Beasley ended the service by providing the themed musical selection; "How Great Thou Art". See the "In Memory" tab of this website for the complete tribute offered by Ellen. David extended a thank you to Ellen, Dave, and Connie and then introduced Jim Holdgreve to offer a dinner prayer. The classmates then adjourned to enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by the Elks' kitchen staff.
Let me also express our deeply felt gratitude for the hard work shown by Mike Westwood (the husband of Pam Ehlen) for the endless photographs taken on Friday and Saturday nights. Be sure to view his excellent work in the "Reunion 55" tab of this website.
And again, a special thank you goes out to the reunion committee for their excellent efforts in organizing another successful reunion event. Special thanks go out to - Martha Dick Hottman, John and Gayle Dulin, Lois Reynolds Lautenschlaer, Gary Oates, David Schwemer, and Jerry Stout.
Here's hoping you found many rewards in renewing old friendships!
A passage from "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran.
And a youth said, Speak to us of Friendship. And he answered saying: Your friend is your needs answered. He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside. For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace. When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the "nay" in your own mind, nor do you withhold the "ay." And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart; For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed! When you part from your friend, you grieve not; For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.........................
